Gone are the days when only very popular celebrity accounts, were the only ones to be awarded blue badges on Twitter. The blue badge AKA verified accounts are only handed to important people in society, so scarce were these blue badges that only a handful of Zimbabweans had verified accounts, but that is all about to change.
Twitter has just announced that it is rolling out account verification to the masses. Yes, you heard right! Any Twitter user can now apply for verification, as long as they meet certain criteria.
What you need to get verified!
- A verified phone number
- A confirmed email address
- A bio
- A profile photo
- A header photo
- A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organisation accounts)
- A website
- Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings
